CIMC (Grades 9 - 10)
 

Time:                 8:30 – 10:30 am (2 hours)
Location:           cafeteria or library (listen for further announcements)


Format:

  • 9 questions: 6 are answer only and 3 are full solution
  • marks for full solution questions are assigned for form and style of presentation
  • 60 total marks
  • non-programmable calculators permitted provided they are without graphic displays
 
Mathematical Content:
Most of the problems are based on the mathematical curriculum up to and including grade 10. Many of the contest problems test logical thinking and mathematical problem solving.
 
Audience: Students in grades 9 or 10 as well as motivated students in lower grades.

CSMC (Grades 11 - 12)
 

Time:                 8:30 – 10:30 am (2 hours)
Location:           cafeteria or library (listen for further announcements)


Format:

  • 9 questions: 6 are answer only and 3 are full solution

  • 60 total marks 
  • non-programmable calculators permitted provided they are without graphic displays

PASCAL, CAYLEY, FERMAT (Grades 9, 10, 11)
 
Time:         8:30 – 9:30 am (1 hour)
Location:   cafeteria or library (listen for further announcements)

Format:
  • 25 multiple-choice questions
  • 150 marks total
  • any calculator permitted

 

Mathematical Content:
Early questions require only concepts found in the curriculum common to all provinces. The last few questions are designed to test ingenuity and insight. Rather than testing content, most of the contest problems test logical thinking and mathematical problem solving.

Audience:
Students in Grade 9 or below are eligible to write the Pascal Contest.
Students in Grade 10 or below are eligible to write the Cayley Contest.
Students in Grade 11 or below are eligible to write the Fermat Contest

EUCLID (Grade 12)
 
Time:              8:30 – 11:00 am (2.5 hours)
Location:        cafeteria or library (listen for further announcements)

Format:
  • 10 questions: some answer only/some full solution (no multiple-choice)
  •  total of 100 marks
  • non-programmable calculators without graphcial displays are permitted
  • marked for form and style of presentation
 
Mathematical Content:
Most of the problems are based on the mathematical curriculum up to and including the final year of secondary school. Many of the contest problems test logical thinking and mathematical problem solving.
 
Audience:
Students in their final year of secondary school or CÉGEP students and motivated students in lower grades.
